But she didn’t. When Michele became HOH, Chima was placed on the chopping block, and it was clear she was the target. It was at this point that her game officially ended. Feeling defeated and deflated, she made it clear that she wasn’t going to play along with the show or the producers anymore. She blamed them for humiliating her, and as all sore losers in this game do, she accused them of rigging the vote so Jeff would win the Coup. She told her remaining allies, Lydia, Kevin, and Natalie, that from here on out she would do the exact opposite of everything the producers asked. If they told her to wake up, she’d go back to bed. If she was called to the diary room, she’d stand pat and not move. She even threatened to quit the game entirely and walk out the door. When the producers gave the houseguests a redux apparatus for the upcoming Power of Veto (POV) competition, she reluctantly went outside to practice, but intentionally left her microphone behind. One of the most basic rules of Big Brother is that you have to wear your microphone at all times unless you’re sleeping or bathing, and even then it has to be within arms’ reach. The producers called over the loudspeaker for Chima to put it on, but she refused, ignoring them completely. After several reminders, Kevin (who was desperately trying to talk Chima off the ledge and encourage her to win POV and save herself) went inside himself and grabbed it for her. When he emerged out back, he gave Chima her microphone, and immediately, Chima turned around and unceremoniously tossed it into the nearby hot tub, destroying it. Lydia and Natalie scrambled to save it, but it was too late, so they hastily tried to come up with an excuse that Chima dropped it accidentally, but the video is crystal clear. She was basically playing softball with her mic. Chima was then issued a replacement microphone that she refused to wear, forcing Kevin to humiliate himself by attaching it to her. She removed it the moment he walked away. Finally, the producers had enough, so she was called to the diary room. She patently refused. She got increasingly belligerent until at last, Allison Grodner, the executive producer of the show, stepped in. When Chima finally relented and went to the diary room, she was quickly escorted out a side door. Allison later announced to the house that Chima was expelled for multiple rule violations. Willfully destroying her microphone was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Among her rule violations: Destruction of personal property, theft of another houseguest’s property, refusal to abide by producers’ instructions, uttering racial slurs, obstructing cameras, an act of violence, and destruction of production equipment. All told, she committed at least seven rule violations. Chima became only the third houseguest to ever be expelled from the house, and she broke a record number of rules in the process. She is also the only person to leave the game in such a manner during the jury phase. It was announced that she would not be a member of the jury, and as of the posting date for this article, there has been no announcement as to how the show will deal with a potential tie in the final vote. Even when she’s out of the house, Chima is screwing with the production. Since Chima left and circulated back into the real world, she has not kept silent. She has been active on Twitter and has made public statements, removing any doubt about her true character. Among the more precious gems is that she apologized for the “terrorist” comments, because they might have offended Muslims, but she adamantly did not apologize to Russell. She said that making mistakes like this has made her superior to us, and has publicly commented that all of her detractors are probably ugly and fat. A class act all the way. The most puzzling of her statements, however, is her “side” of the story. Basically, she claims that she wasn’t expelled, she quit. Aside from the fact that quitting would still have landed her here, where all quitters end up, it just makes her look more petty and self-centered. She can’t accept that she did anything wrong, and her attitude is that since the game screwed her over, she was just going to take her ball and leave. Are these the actions of a “strong woman”? I don’t think so. Beyond her idiocy and childish behavior in the house, Chima has actually screwed herself here in the outside world. Unlike other reality shows that are heavily edited, Big Brother has a 24/7 live feed, so even though things are altered and censored for broadcast, we the audience can still see almost everything that goes on, and the camera doesn’t lie. <--Previous 1 2 3 Next-->View Printable version of this article |
